Report: Crime Rate Falling In Tennessee Schools

An annual survey of crime at Tennessee’s elementary and secondary schools shows a significant drop in the number of crimes reported over the past three years.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s 2013 School Crime Report suggests a total of 9741 crimes were committed at Tennessee schools in 2013, down from 12,466 in 2011.  That represents a 21.9 percent decline over the three-year period. 

Number of Murders in Tenn. Drops To Lowest Level In Years

An annual report on crime in Tennessee suggests the number of murders in 2013 was the lowest since the TBI began releasing its "Crime In Tennessee" report in 2001.

The compilation of crime statistics from local law enforcement agencies shows a total of 333 murders in 2013, down 18.6 percent from 2012’s total of 390.
