A brand new Knoxville-based string quartet called "Inner Voices" makes its debut this Friday evening at the recently-opened creative hub, The Hive, located in Old North Knoxville.  Cellist, Jeanine Wilkinson, and violinist, Ruth Bacon, visited WUOT to talk about how they formed their group, their overall vision for the quartet and what sets them apart from other chamber groups, and about what they will be presenting during their debut performance.

Knoxville Opera has taken on the challenge of producing a thrilling and seldom-performed opera: Arrigo  Boito's Mefistofele.  Combining the forces of a 100+ member choir, multiple brass choirs, 50+ member orchestra, and internationally-renowned opera singers, this epic production is sure to be one that shouldn't be missed. Starring the Metropolitan Opera's Donovan Singletary as the devil and Russian soprano, Julia Lima as the beautiful Margherita, Mefistofele tells the classic tale of good vs. evil. 

The Oak Ridge Symphony and Chorus kick off their 2015 season this Saturday evening featuring music with a British theme. Conductor, Dan Allcott leads the symphony as they perform Mendelssohn's "Hebrides Overture" and Haydn's "London Symphony."  Cellist, Wesley Baldwin will join them as they share Sir Edward Elgar's haunting Cello Concerto in E minor and chorus director, Seth Maples will lead their presentation of 2 Coronation anthems by Handel.  Following the concert will be a reception, where concert-goers can enjoy "tea and crumpets."
