The U.S. Ambassador to Libya is based in Malta, mainly over safety concerns. From there and many other locations around the Mediterranean, Jones works to bring together the various factions fighting for resources and political control in Libya.
On Tuesday, April 21, Ambassador Jones visited the Howard Baker Center for Public Policy in Knoxville. She spoke with WUOT All Things Considered host Brandon Hollingsworth about the multiple challenges facing Libya. Those challenges include figuring out what form of government works best, a lack of internal structure and the rise of ISIS as a player on the field.
