The associations that represent Tennessee’s medical professionals are calling for the expansion of the state’s Medicaid program, TennCare.

Tennessee Medical Association president Chris Young, and Jill Kinch, immediate past president of the Tennessee Nurses Association say a healthcare crisis in Tennessee is on the way and that not expanding Medicaid will affect state residents of all incomes.

Governor Haslam said in May that he was negotiating with federal officials over expanding Medicaid in the state, but has yet to make a decision on the issue.

Chrissy served as WUOT's News Director and host of monthly public affairs talk show Dialogue from late 2021 to early 2023.
