At a meeting on Monday, March 20, the Knox County Board of Education may choose the system's next superintendent. From 25 initial applicants, a three-person search committee narrowed the field to two choices: current KCS assistant superintendent Bob Thomas, and Dale Lynch, superintendent of the Hamblen County school system.
This search was the first KCS conducted in-house, using the committee of three Board of Education members instead of a headhunting firm. Amber Rountree led the search committee. In this conversation, she tells WUOT Morning Edition host Victor Agreda about the search process, responds to criticisms about transparency and shares her thoughts on Thomas and Lynch.
