The Oak Ridge Symphony presents a concert of "International Flavors"

The Oak Ridge Symphony is presenting its final concert of the season this Saturday night, April 18th, at 7:30pm at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center, and features music with an international flair.  The program will include Rimsky-Korskov's "Capriccio Espagnol", Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony, the "Danse Bacchanale" from Saint-Saens' opera Samson et Delilah, and the "Tahiti Trot" by Dmitri Shostakovich.  A few days ago, Morning Concert host, Melony Dodson, had a fun, informative and interesting conversation with Maestro Dan Allcott about the music on this colorful program.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
