Knoxville has advanced to the quarterfinals in a competition for an energy prize.
Knoxville is one of several cities competing for the Georgetown University Energy Prize (GUEP), a $5 million award used to help reduce energy use.
Knoxville city officials want public input for the next phase of the competition: City leaders will create a plan to reduce energy consumption in residential and city buildings.
Chattanooga is also in the competition.
