The Knoxville Opera is putting together a production of Verdi's romantic drama, Il Trovatore. Performances are Friday, April 24th at 8pm and Sunday, April 26th at 2:30. Maestro Salesky will host an opera preview 45 minutes prior to each performance and opera fans who find themselves without a companion to see the opera are encouraged to inquire about KO's new program, the "Sempre Opera Society." Il Trovatore will be sung in Italian with projected English translations.
Considered to be a staple of the standard operatic repertoire, audience members will recognize many of the "tunes" in Il Trovatore, including the famous "Anvil Chorus." Verdi's expressive and dramatic music does not disappoint, leading to many "chill-bump inducing moments" throughout this incredible score. This is a tale of jealousy, vengeance, lust, murder, and love.
