Knoxville Opera is putting together a production of Gilbert & Sullivan's classic and hilariously entertaining operetta, H.M.S. Pinafore. Brian Deedick returns as stage director and the cast features several internationally-acclaimed singers, including some recognizable names in the local opera scene here in Knoxville.
Long Island native, Steven Condy, is portraying the role of Sir Joseph Porter. Already, Condy has had a lengthy and successful career, performing primarily "buffo" roles all across the United States. Most notably, he has performed the role of Dr. Bartolo in Rossini's The Barber of Seville with some of the leading opera companies in the country, including Boston Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Washington National Opera to name just a few. This is his first time singing the role of Sir Joseph Porter.
Performances are Friday, November 21st at 8pm and Sunday, November 23rd at 2:30pm and will be given in the magnificent Tennessee Theatre, with a pre-concert chat given by Maestro Salesky, forty-five minutes prior to each performance. More information is available at knoxvilleopera.com
