Pianist Gustavo Romero. The Washington Post has referred to him as "A pianist of genius."
This Dallas-based pianist began playing the piano at the age of five, teaching himself how to read music and from there, his career catapulted quickly after winning a major competition at the age of thirteen. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Atlanta Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, just to name a few. His repertoire is large and varied and he frequently gives solo recitals around the world, while also teaching at the University of North Texas.
Mr. Romero has been featured by NPR, BBC Radio, and Radio France and a feature film about his life and artistry was produced in 2012 by The Snapshots Music and Art Foundation.
This week, Gustavo Romero is in residence at the UT School of Music. During this time, he will present 3 different solo recitals, featuring the music of Franz Schubert as well as music by composers from the 2nd Viennese School. Mr. Romero will also give a masterclass for UT students on Thursday. The recitals are open to the public and will be given Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 8pm. They will be presented in Powell Recital Hall on the UT campus.
