Four former Grainger County Sheriff’s Office employees charged with misconduct will begin appearing for hearings next month. Charges vary from theft to allowing inmates to escape.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Jacob Layel stole cash while searching cells for contraband. Layel is the son of Sheriff Scott Layel and a former patrol deputy.

Tyler Farrow was indicted for having knowledge of inmates with contraband and for refraining from performing his duties.

The TBI says Josh Bumgardner intentionally allowed a female inmate to indecently expose herself to him.

Michael Sane is accused of accepting bribes from inmates and allowing inmates to leave jail to pick up contraband.
