Comet Lulin is traveling through our solar system and will be at its brightest in the next few days. In December, a massive coal ash spill at a Tennessee Valley Authority power plant in East Tennessee dumped more than a billion gallons of coal ash sludge into the surrounding rivers and neighborhoods. Since then, area residents have worried about the health of the water and the soil near the site. But as Spring and Summer approach, they're beginning to worry about the air too. Knoxville is hosting the debut of the Big Ears Festival, February 6th through the 8th. The event is drawing an audience from all over the world and features musicians and performers who don't commonly perform in the southeast, or in the US. Knox County's 4th Circuit Court handles family issues: divorce, child custody, domestic violence... Judge Bill Swann has been elected to serve on the 4th Circuit Court Bench four times: in 1982, 1990, 1998, and in 2006. In 1984, Judge Swann began the state's first parenting classes for divorcing parents. Those classes are now mandatory for parents seeking divorce (Tennessee Parenting Plan Statute, 2001). Chrissy Keuper spoke with Judge Swann about his history in the court, about the parenting classes and about other child and family issues that show up in his courtroom...
