Fences

This weekend, the Clarence Brown Theatre opens its production of August Wilson's Pulitizer Prize-winning play "Fences". "Fences" is one of a series of August Wilson plays that illuminates the indignity of the African American experience throughout the twentieth century. To direct the play, the Clarence Brown turned to veteran director Ron Himes of Saint Louis' Black Rep Theatre. Thirty years ago, Himes helped to found the Black Rep. Because of this, there are mounting fears over what can and should be available on the Internet. But where do you draw the line on allegedly offensive postings? Harlem Globetrotters

Tonight, the Harlem Globetrotters' national tour makes a stop in Knoxville. Since 1927, the Globetrotters have been entertaining generations of children with a memorable combination of tricks, gags, and stellar play on the basketball court. WUOT's Chrissy Keuper recently spoke with former Troy University star Herb Evans of Memphis, who is in his second year with the team. Until recently, the Geier Consent Decree ensured that higher education opportunities for minority students in Tennessee were on equal footing with those for white students.
