In August of 1920, Tennessee cast the deciding ballot that gave American women the right to vote. The passage of the 19th Amendment was the culmination of a long struggle that included the work of three dedicated women from Tennessee. The contributions of Lizzie Crozier French, Anne Dallas Dudley and Elizabeth Avery Meriweather will be recognized this weekend when the Suffrage Coalition unveils a memorial in their honor on Market Square in Knoxville.
