INSTRUCTORS: We have some wonderfully talented instructors for you this year; a few returning and a few new to Hard Knox: Ryan Calloway (San Francisco) - Ryan’s goal as a teacher is to inspire his students to find their own creativity. With an open and warm style, he welcomes individuals to not only learn the traditions of Vintage Jazz Dance, but to add to it as well. Annie Trudeau (Montreal) - Annie is passionate and enthusiastic as a swing dancer, teacher and competitor. Her style joins dynamism and power with a subtleness that is very feminine. Kevin St. Laurent (San Francisco) - With clear and humorous instruction, this creative and versatile dancer will entertain you, inspire you, and help you become the best dancer you can be. Changing the world, one rock step at a time, is a formidable task, but he is definitely up for the challenge. Kelly Arsenault (Knoxville) - Kelly, has been dancing as long as she can remember. When she met Mickey in 2004, she discovered her love for balboa and lindy hop. Jon Tigert (Baltimore) - Jon is an internationally recognized professional Dancer, Choreographer, and Instructor in the Swing Dance community. As a teacher, Jon specializes in Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, Blues, and Tap Sally Clinebelle (Columbia) - Sally loves to dance and she loves people. Those two things are extremely obvious when she’s teaching. Whether it’s helping someone one-on-one, or working with a large class, her excitement and enthusiasm for the dance and for her students is infectious. Nathan Clinebelle (Columbia) - Nathan never gets tired of watching excitement shoot across someone’s face when something suddenly clicks. He hopes that at the end of class you’ll be inspired to try new things and add a little bit more of yourself to every dance BEGINNER TRACK: Are you brand new to dancing? LIVE MUSIC: We are excited to present, for the first time ever anywhere, Michael Gamble and the Rhythm Serenaders Orchestra! Enjoy the first ever night of dancing brought to you by this brand-new orchestra chalk full of some of the best long-standing American jazz musicians. COMPETITIONS: Solo Jazz - Show us how you shake it solo! Bring your best vernacular jazz, Charleston, and more, because songs will range in tempo, style, and period. Any-Swing Goes Partner Shuffle - This is an any-swing goes competition - not specifically Lindy Hop. Dancers will be judged individually for prelims and as partnerships for finals.
